UPI QR Code Generator

Make a payment code for your own UPI ID. It opens any UPI app with your details filled in — and it is generated in your browser, not on a server.

How to use it

Enter the UPI ID money should reach — the yourname@bank address your payment app shows in its profile screen. Add a display name so the payer sees who they are paying, and optionally an amount. Leave the amount empty and the payer types it themselves, which is what you want for a tip jar, a donation or a shop counter where the total changes.

The result is a standard UPI payment link. Scanning it opens whichever UPI app the payer has installed — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, or their bank's own app — with your details already filled in. They still confirm the payment and enter their PIN; nothing moves without them.

This is a personal, static code

Worth being clear about what this is and isn't. It builds the same upi://pay link the UPI specification defines, encoded directly into the image. It is not a merchant code issued by a payment provider, and it is not connected to any settlement account, dashboard or reconciliation system.

In practice that means it is well suited to person-to-person collection — splitting a bill, a freelancer's invoice, a stall at a weekend market. If you are running a business that needs per-transaction reconciliation, refunds, or the merchant transaction limits, you want a code issued by your payment provider instead, not one generated in a browser.

Payments go directly between the payer's bank and yours. This site is not part of the transaction, sees none of it, and cannot help if something goes wrong — your bank or UPI app is who to contact.

Before you print it

Check the UPI ID character by character. A typo produces a code that works perfectly and sends money to somebody else, or to nobody at all. This is the failure worth being paranoid about, because it is silent — nothing looks wrong until a customer tells you the payment went through and you never received it.

Test it with one rupee. Scan your own code with a different phone, send the smallest amount UPI allows, and confirm it arrives in the right account. Do this before printing, every time, including after any edit.

Watch where it ends up. A payment code stuck on a shop counter can be covered by a sticker pointing somewhere else — this is a well-documented scam. Check yours periodically, and if you are the one paying, confirm the name your app shows before you approve.

Frequently asked questions

Which apps can scan this?

Any UPI-compatible app: Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, Amazon Pay and the apps most Indian banks publish. The code holds a standard upi:// payment link, so support comes from the UPI specification rather than from anything specific to this site.

Should I set an amount or leave it empty?

Set one when the figure is fixed and known in advance — an invoice, a ticket, a specific bill. Leave it empty for anything variable: a shop counter, a donation box, a tip jar. An empty amount prompts the payer to type one, which is nearly always what you want on a printed code that will be used more than once.

Is this a merchant QR code?

No. It is a personal payment code that points at your UPI ID. Merchant codes are issued by payment providers and come with settlement accounts, higher transaction limits, refund handling and reconciliation reporting. If your business needs those, get a code from your provider.

Do you see or handle the money?

No, and there is no mechanism by which we could. The code is generated in your browser and contains only the payment link. The transaction happens between the payer's UPI app and your bank; this site is not a party to it.

Are there fees?

None from us — the site is free and there is no account. Whether your bank or payment provider charges anything for receiving UPI payments is between you and them, and depends on whether the account is personal or merchant.

Can I use this for a business?

For a small operation collecting person-to-person payments, it works. Once you need per-transaction records, refunds, staff access or the merchant limits, you have outgrown it, and a provider-issued merchant code is the right tool.
